Bristol Lifestyle Recovery is announcing a temporary suspension of operations as of September 30, 2017. Due to larger than expected initial building repairs, which also delayed the opening and reduced revenue, BLR’s working capital was depleted quicker than anticipated. Fairview Housing acquired the facility on April 1, 2017 and opened on June 15, 2017.
There were a total of 45 residents that moved to BLR since June 15. Notice was given to the residents and staff members on September 25th. All remaining residents have, or will be, assisted to transition to other housing or similar recovery facility. Virtually all staff members remain on a voluntary basis to assist the residents to a safe and positive environment.
BLR has put forth tremendous effort to raise additional working capital through many avenues. Because of the stigma associated with addiction, fundraising has been difficult. Most significant donors don’t prefer their name on a building associated with addiction. BLR is extremely grateful to the hundreds of donations that have come from churches, individuals and organizations that helped support the residents! Those donations have helped save and improve many lives while at BLR.
Bristol Lifestyle Recovery plans to continue to raise working capital and search for a possible healthcare partnership. The importance of having a substantial facility for addition recovery in the epicenter of the opioid crisis is beyond words and should not be abandoned for lack of funding. Compared to the costs of the region’s beautiful new facilities throughout the Tri-Cities, BLR would be a small investment that would pay huge dividends by saving lives, helping people return to a normal life and reduce the huge cost to society.
